Quick fixes

My alarm didn’t go off

The most common cause is notification permission. Open iOS Settings → ruffup → Notifications and confirm they’re allowed.

If you’re on iOS 26 or later, ruffup uses Apple’s AlarmKit framework — make sure you granted alarm permission when prompted during onboarding. You can re-check under iOS Settings → ruffup.

Other things to verify:

I’m stuck on a camera mission

The camera-fetch missions ask you to point your camera at a specific object (sink, coffee, your dog, etc.). The on-device Vision framework matches what it sees against the target.

If it’s not recognizing:

If you grant camera permission and the mission still doesn’t fire correctly, restart the app and try again. If it persists, email us with the mission name and what was happening.

I want to cancel my subscription

You cancel through Apple, not through ruffup. Two ways:

  1. From inside ruffup: Settings → Subscription → Manage Subscription. This deep-links to the right iOS screen.
  2. Directly in iOS: Settings → [your name at the top] → Subscriptions → ruffup → Cancel Subscription.

Cancelling stops the next renewal — you keep Pro access until the current period ends. No partial refunds for unused time.

I want a refund

Refunds for subscription purchases are handled by Apple, not by us — we have no ability to issue refunds directly. Request one at: https://reportaproblem.apple.com.

Apple typically reviews refund requests within 48 hours. Common refund reasons (accidental purchase, technical issue) are usually approved.

My subscription didn’t transfer to my new phone

Restore Purchases is your friend:

  1. Install ruffup on the new phone.
  2. Go through onboarding.
  3. On the paywall, tap Restore Purchases in the footer.

This works as long as you’re signed into the same Apple ID that originally bought the subscription. If it doesn’t restore, double-check the Apple ID under iOS Settings → [your name] → Media & Purchases.

I subscribed but the app still shows the paywall

Tap Restore Purchases on the paywall. If that doesn’t work:

  1. Confirm the purchase actually went through at: https://reportaproblem.apple.com (your purchase history)
  2. Make sure you’re online — ruffup needs to confirm your entitlement with Apple/RevenueCat on first launch
  3. Force-quit the app and reopen it

Still stuck? Email us with the date you purchased and we’ll help.

Privacy and data

Where is my data stored?

Almost everything — your alarms, onboarding answers, streaks, mission history — stays only on your device. Nothing is sent to a server by us.

The only data that leaves your phone is anonymous subscription state, processed by RevenueCat so your Pro entitlement works across reinstalls. There’s no account to log into.

Full details: Privacy Policy.

How do I delete my data?

On-device data: delete the app from your iPhone. Everything goes with it.

Subscription record at RevenueCat: email support@ruffup.app with the dates you used ruffup, and we’ll request RevenueCat purge the record. We respond within 30 days as required by GDPR.

EU / UK data subject requests

If you’re in the EU, UK, or EEA, you have rights to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict processing of your personal data. Email support@ruffup.app to exercise any of these rights — we respond within 30 days. See the Privacy Policy for the full breakdown.
